West Bolz Bio

West Bolz grew up and resides in Charlotte, NC, spent his early adult years in Athens, GA and Asheville, NC.  Since hacking on a piano as a kid of 8, he went on to pick up the guitar which he could not put down throughout high school.  He later became fluent on bass, congas, and voice.  Back in Athens, he was the bass player for the Brazilian band, Apenas Atenas, which featured radio personality Valmir Jorge.  This band had the pinnacle pleasure of having superstar Tito Puente and his Orchestra open a show for them at the Classic Center.  West co-wrote and produced their record, No Ar.  After that he co-founded the Latin combo, Tropico, and also played guitar with prog-funk group, Atomic Cafe.

After tying the knot with Iliana, the fiery Venezuelan singer of Tropico, they relocated to Asheville, NC and premiered their original Latin combo, Eta Carina.  They went on to perform hundreds of shows, and were the go-to band for dance aficianados. West wrote and produced their epic record, El Contrato.   In 2010, they performed their music live with the Charlotte Civic Orchestra.

In 2006, they returned to live in Charlotte.  In that time West has performed hundreds of shows, both as an acoustic artist, and with a variety of bands.  His acoustic shows have been featured at festivals, concerts, country clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties and special events.  His ability to tailor his repertoire for different crowds has made perhaps the most versatile soloist in the area.  West is also bandleader for other Zolana Entertainment acts, including rock variety act The One Trick Ponies, 70s tribute band The Polyester Apocalypse, and rockers Furious George.  His latest project is Banana Pancakes, a Jack Johnson tribute band.  He has also produced two solo albums, Radiocity and Acoustically Speaking.

West lives with his wife and 3 children in Charlotte, NC where he  works as a building and remodeling contractor.  He is also a Guru (instructor) for Silat Club, teaching a rare Indonesian martial art.   West's greatest passion is to play music for people to make them move, relax, think, or just have a great time!
